Garlic is often touted as a super food, with health benefits ranging from clearing up acne and lowering blood pressure to slowing cancer growth and curing the common cold.
It’s said to be:
- antibacterial
- antiviral
- antifungal
- antimicrobial
Most of us don’t want to be eating a clove of garlic a day, and while there are supplements available, it’s important to choose only high-quality supplements made from natural, living cloves of garlic, which comes at a price.
Instead, look for ways to incorporate fresh garlic into your meals, especially recipes that allow you to add the garlic last, as overcooking it can mitigate many of the health benefits.
Although I currently add garlic to my meat sauce, I’d like to start incorporating it in more meals (which shouldn’t be hard since Italian is always popular around here), and I’ve put together a list of must-try recipes:
- Fresh Basil Pesto (to use in the yummy panini recipe she has halfway down the page or this Chicken Pesto Pasta, which we already love!)
If you’re looking for a simple way to prepare garlic,
be sure to watch this quick video. I personally use my garlic press most of the time, but I like the other options as well and may try some of those instead.
What’s your favorite fresh garlic recipe? Do you look for ways to incorporate this super food into your diet?
